AirLogBook is a personal aircraft spotting log. It is designed to keep your sightings on your device and only use network services when needed for aircraft lookup.
AirLogBook can store aircraft photos you choose or take, aircraft registrations, sighting dates, optional sighting locations, optional notes, and aircraft details such as manufacturer, model, and operator. This information is stored in the app on your device using Apple frameworks.
AirLogBook reads only the photos you choose through Apple's photo picker. The app may read photo metadata, such as the original date and GPS location, to help create a sighting.
If a registration cannot be detected, AirLogBook still saves the selected photo for manual review.
Location saving is optional and can be turned off in Settings. If enabled, AirLogBook may save your current location with a sighting or use GPS metadata from a selected photo. Location is used to show where a sighting was made and to match a nearby airport where possible.
When a registration is detected or typed, AirLogBook may send that registration to ADSBdb to look up aircraft details. This lookup does not require an account.
AirLogBook does not track you across apps or websites.
